7 Day Wine Trail

Day 1

Early morning, we catch the ferry to Waiheke Island. Mid-morning, we meet with Peter White of Kennedy Point for a tour of the winery and vineyard.

Lunch will be at Mudbrick

This afternoon we pay a visit to two spectacular wineries on the eastern shores of the Island Man O War and Passage Rock

Late afternoon we return to the city

Dinner – Degustation Dinner at The Grove

Day 2

This morning we explore Napier. Napier has a unique concentration of 1930s Art Deco architecture, built after much of the city was razed in the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake.  Late morning, we drive out to Te Mata Peak through the Tuki Tuki Valley one most beautiful vineyard drives in New Zealand. The 360 degree views from Te Mata are simply amazing and look out on the fertile valley of the Heretaunga Plains.

Late morning, we visit Te Mata Estate home of Coleraine and the Bullnose Syrah. 

Lunch will be at Black Barn

This afternoon we visit 2 wineries and meet with Paige and Pieter Koopman of Hopes Grove Vineyards and enjoy a tasting of their Syrah, Chardonnay and Olive Oils.

Dinner Tonight Terrôir Craggy Range

 

Day 3

We start the day with a visit to Brookfield’s renowned for aromatic wines as well as full bodied Bordeaux blends and a hillside Syrah.

Lunch will be a picnic in the grounds of Ngatarawa Winery beside the lily pond.

This afternoon we explore the Gimblett Gravels sub region and visit 4 wineries. We meet with Lorraine Leheny & Warren Gibson of Bilancia. Bilancia is a small Hawkes' Bay producer of exceptional Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Viognier and Syrah.

We will also meet with Daniel Brennan owner of Decibel wines. Daniel will taste current and previous vintages of his single varietal Malbec

Day 4

This morning we drive to Martinborough and meet with Wilco Lam winemaker at Dry River Wines. Dry River are a premium producer of Martinborough Pinot Noir and aromatic wines.

Lunch today will be at Coney wines renowned for their focus on styles of Riesling

After lunch, we visit 3 more wineries one of which will be Ata Rangi before driving on to Wellington

Day 5

Today is free day to explore the city of Wellington

 

Day 6

This morning we take a 20-minute flight to Marlborough.

Late morning, we delve into the luscious wines of Marlborough again, starting with a visit to the No1 Family Estate where you will taste vintage and non-vintage Methode. 

Framingham is an exceptional boutique winery producing fruity styled Sauvignon, Alsatian style Riesling and Gewürztraminer, watch out for the new release Montepulciano. Rex and Paula Brooke Taylor established this vineyard in 1981 only to release their wines under the Framingham label in 1994.

Midday we enjoy lunch at the Alan Scott Winery

This afternoon we have left open for any requests

Dinner tonight BBQ

 

Day 7

Today we delve into the luscious wines of Marlborough starting with a visit to the No1 Family Estate where you will taste vintage and non-vintage Methode.

After lunch, we explore Renwick sub region and meet with Anna & Jason Flowerday owners of Te Whare Ra. Their 11-hectare vineyard is one of the oldest in Marlborough and is Certified Organic.

Lunch will be at Wairau River

Dog Point Vineyard is a boutique and family oriented business producing

wines with a clear point of difference. We will meet with winemaker Ivan.

We then meet with Kevin Judd owner of Greywacke Wines and the founding

winemaker of Cloudy Bay.
